Editorial policy
Select Cinema Guide aims to make film selection clearer without overstating what a recommendation can do. We explain our reasoning and correct the record when a page needs revision.
Accuracy and clarity
We take care with factual statements and distinguish general guidance from personal preference. We avoid presenting taste as fact, and we revise wording that could leave readers with a misleading impression. Readers can send a correction through the Contact page.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made for the reader’s benefit and are not bought. A partnership does not guarantee coverage, favourable treatment or a particular conclusion. We make the basis of a piece clear when outside support has shaped it.
Corrections
When a meaningful error is identified, we review it and amend the relevant text. Where an update changes the substance of a page, we aim to make that change clear in the article itself.
Partner material and illustrations
Paid or partner-supported material is labelled clearly so readers can distinguish it from independent editorial work. Some illustrations may be AI-generated; where relevant, we identify them as such and do not present them as documentary images.
A good choice leaves room for the film
We treat choosing as part of watching: begin with the evening you have, then leave space for a film to surprise you.
